«Comics Deluxe! Das Comicmagazin Strapazin» Exhibition catalogue

Publications

While comics were considered a child’s diversion in the German-speaking world 25 years ago, they are now respected as a contemporary form of artistic expression. The comic magazine Strapazin, founded in Zurich in 1984, played a pioneering role in this development. Strapazin introduced international stars and newcomers whose work was previously unpublished in Switzerland, and became a magnet for young German-language illustrators. Since then, Strapazin has remained at the heart of the action, and its influence reaches well beyond linguistic borders. “Comics Deluxe!” traces the development of Strapazin and the German-language comic scene. Christian Gasser’s text is accompanied by stories by ATAK, M. S. Bastian, Anke Feuchtenberger, Ulli Lust, Thomas Ott and others, and preceded by an introduction by Anette Gehrig.
