Joost Swarte «Zeichner und Gestalter» Exhibition catalogue

Publications

The Dutch cartoonist and designer Joost Swarte (*1947, Heemstede) is one of the most important and influential comic artists of our day. It was he who named and renewed the drawing style known as “Ligne Claire”. Swarte moves easily from one design discipline to the next and has created a multifaceted oeuvre that ranges from comics and graphic design, to objects, to set design and architecture. The Cartoonmuseum Basel published this leporello to coincide with the exhibition dedicated to Swarte in the winter of 2014/2015. “Joost Swarte. Zeichner und Gestalter” contains an introduction, an exclusive interview with Joost Swarte, and illustrations of representative works from 1975 to 2014.
