Christoph Fischer, an artist and illustrator from Lucerne, has been sketching and noting down his dreams since 2007. While I Was Sleeping brings together 51 of these quirky stories as developed pencil drawings, to accompany the Cartoonmuseum Basel exhibition Christoph Fischer: The World Put on Paper. The creative process of condensing a dream into a single image is made visible by numerous sketches and felt-pen works that convey a fascinating raw spontaneity. Without analysis or interpretation, which would rob them of their magic, Fischer embeds his nocturnal adventures in short texts.
