The Berlin artist and cartoonist ATAK began making street art and comics in the 1980s. Known for his surreal, almost naïve style, he is counted among the most innovative and influential picture book illustrators of our time. “ATAK. Das Wunder von Berlin” was published to accompany the exhibition at the Cartoonmuseum Basel. Apart from new works by ATAK, namely pieces he chose to complement selected drawings from the Cartoonmuseum’s “Caricature and Cartoon Collection”, the book also contains illustrations created under ATAK’s supervision at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
